Lockerby Chosen By Oil Kings

Brandon, Manitoba -- Brandon Wheat Kings' general manager Kelly McCrimmon announced Tuesday that 19-year old defenceman Brandon Lockerby has been selected by the Edmonton Oil Kings in today's Western Hockey League Expansion Draft.

The Oil Kings begin play in the upcoming 2007-2008 WHL season.

Lockerby, a 19-year old from Douglas, Manitoba, played 40 games for the Wheat Kings this past season, finishing with a goal, nine points and 16 penalty minutes. As well, he compiled an impressive +14 ranking.

A former seventh round selection (138th overall) of the Wheat Kings in the 2003 WHL bantam draft, Lockerby was a member of the National Midget Champion Wheat Kings in 2004.

"We are sorry to lose Brandon Lockerby," says McCrimmon. "I felt he was going to be a strong comtributor to this year's team. We wish him well in Edmonton."
