GARY, Ind. - The Sioux Falls Pheasants continued their winning ways on Saturday, squelching the Gary SouthShore RailCats in a 5-2 win on Saturday night. The Pheasants matched a season-high with their fourth consecutive win.

Stellar pitching led the way for the Pheasants, as four Sioux Falls hurlers combined to allow just three hits. Kyle Ruwe (2-3) bounced back from a couple of rough outings with one of his best starts. Ruwe held the RailCats to one unearned run and one hit in six-plus hits. He walked two and struck out none.

Ryan Grant, Chris Salberg and Aaron Cotter combined to finish off Gary in the final three innings. Leading 5-1 in the ninth, Cotter relieved Salberg with two runners on. He gave up a double to Kyle Haines that scored a run, but struck out Mike Rohde to end the game. Cotter notched his eighth save of the year.

Brandon Sing led the Pheasants' offense with three extra-base hits. His two-out, two-run double in the first inning gave the Pheasants a 2-0 lead. The Pheasants add runs in the fourth and fifth innings before Sing led off the sixth with his 15th home run of the year for a 5-0 margin. Sing finished 3-for-4 with two doubles and three RBI.

Reggie Abercrombie went 1-for-3 with a sacrifice fly in the fourth, extending his hitting streak to 11 games. Gus Milner added another to his string of two-out RBI with single in the fifth.

Gary SouthShore scratched out an unearned run in the seventh. Haines' RBI ninth in the ninth was his second hit.

The win inched the Pheasants closer to .500, improving their record to 22-26. The Pheasants are now seven games behind St. Paul and Winnipeg. Both are tied for first in the North Division.

The four-game series continues at 2:10 p.m. on Sunday, July 3 in Gary. The game will be broadcast on Sioux Falls Sports Radio 1230-AM KWSN and www.kwsn.com.
