Sioux Falls Takes Final Game Of Series

Sioux Falls, SD-----Sioux Falls defeated the Explorers 8-4 here Friday as the Explorers lost their third straight to the Pheasants.

The Explorers got off to a good start in taking a 1-0 lead in the first inning on a RBI single by Tyler Goodro. However, Sioux Falls came back in the bottom of the first and scored three runs off X's starter and losing pitcher Jason Jarvis. It was Jarvis' first appearance for the Explorers. Sioux City would tie the game at 3-3 in the fourth on a two-run home run by Kent Sakamoto. The tie game wouldn't last long as Sioux Falls sent nine batters to the plate in the home half of the fourth, scoring four runs to make it a 7-3 lead for the Pheasants. Both teams would add another run with the Explorers run coming on a solo home run by Brett Flowers in the seventh inning.

With the win Sioux Falls would take three of four from the Explorers, who now drop to seven games out of first place behind division leader Gary-Southshore. The Explorers will begin a four-game series Saturday at Lewis and Clark Park against Fargo-Moorhead. Game time will be 7:05 with Matt Gibbs getting the start for the X's.
