LANSING, Mich. - The Lansing Lugnuts (8-7, 46-36) won the rubber match of the three-game series with the West Michigan Whitecaps (8-7, 41-43) 2-1 on Friday night on Jackson Field thanks to Carlos Perez's bat and a tremendous pitching effort from Marcus Walden, Dustin Antolin, and Danny Barnes.

Perez was the offensive star for Lansing, going 2-for-4 with a double and scoring both of the Lugnuts' runs.

On the mound, Walden pitched five and two-thirds innings and allowed just one run on four hits. The only run for the Whitecaps came home on a Rob Brantly bad-hop single off reliever Dustin Antolin (Win, 1-0) with two outs in the sixth inning.

Antolin worked a harmless seventh, then turned it over to Barnes, who picked up his fifth save of the season.

West Michigan starter Kyle Ryan (Loss, 4-7) went into the seventh inning and allowed just two runs, but was outshined by the Lugs' pitching trio and clutch hitting.

Marcus Knecht doubled home Perez for the first run of the game, and Jake Marisnick drove Perez in as the game winning run in the sixth inning on a double to right field.

With the win, Lansing pushes their record against West Michigan to 10-2.

The Lugnuts hit the road for nine games in a ten-day span, first in Lake County, and then traveling to Western Division Kane County and Clinton.

The Lugs will start lefty Sean Nolin (1-2, 3.88) in the 7:00 Saturday night opener at Classic Park against Lake County left-hander Kirk Wetmore (1-0, 1.80).

Lansing will be back in action at Cooley Law School Stadium on Wednesday, July 20, at 12:05 p.m., taking on the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers on a Summer Fun Day. Tickets are available for purchase online at www.lansinglugnuts.com, at the stadium box office, and by calling 517-485-4500.
