Anaheim CA - Former Kernel Mike Trout has been promoted from the Arkansas Travelers (Double-A, Texas League) to the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim and will be in uniform for tonight's 9:05 pm (CDT) game with the Seattle Mariners.

Trout was named the 2010 Midwest League MVP and played his last game in Cedar Rapids on July 9, 2010, almost exactly one year from the day he was put on the Angels' active roster. He hit .362 in 81 games for the Kernels and stole 45 bases in 50 attempts and was awarded the 2010 MWL Batting Title.

His promotion was due to an injury to former Kernel, Peter Bourjos, in last night's 5-1 Angels win over Seattle. Trout was batting .324 with 9 HR and, 27 RBI and 28 stolen bases in 75 games for the Travelers.

The Kernels wrap up a three game road trip tonight in Clinton at 7:00 pm, returning to Perfect Game Field at Veterans Memorial Stadium to open a nine game, 10-day home stand on Saturday, July 9th with games against Peoria, Bowling Green and Dayton.

Fans can enjoy all the action with Morgan Hawk on the radio home of Kernels baseball, 1450 KMRY AM, 93.1 KMRY FM, or listen on-line at www.kmryradio.com, or www.kernels.com .
