Dayton Dragons News Release

DAYTON, OHIO - The Dayton Dragons have announced the winners of the team's Batter and Pitcher of the Month awards for June. Fans selected the winners through a voting process at www.daytondragons.com.

Fans selected Billy Hamilton (hitter) and Drew Hayes (pitcher) as the June Players of the Month.

Hamilton stole 14 bases in June and hit .252. He tied for second on the team in runs scored with 15. Hamilton leads all of professional baseball in stolen bases with 61 and is on a pace to steal more than bases than any minor league player in a season since at least 2004. Hamilton is a native of Taylorsville, Mississippi and was selected by the Reds in the 2nd round of the 2009 draft.

Hayes appeared in 11 games out of the Dragons bullpen in June and did not allow a run. Opposing batters combined to go 2 for 35 against him (.057). He went 5 for 5 in save opportunities with a 0-0 record. He is a native of McKenzie, Tennessee and a product of Vanderbilt University. He was selected by the Reds in the 11th round of the 2010 draft.

Both players will appear at the Player of the Month luncheon at 12:00 noon on Monday, July 11 at Subway, 5652 Springboro Pike, Alex Bell Center, in Moraine. Fans may attend to ask questions to the winning players and receive autographs. The players will be available to the media for interviews.

The Dragons play at Fort Wayne tonight at 7:05 p.m. (WONE 980 AM). The next home game at Fifth Third Field is Saturday, July 9 when the Dragons host South Bend at 7:00 p.m. On that night, the Dragons will have the opportunity to break the all-time record for consecutive sell-outs. The Dragons tied the record held by the Portland Trail Blazers on July 2 when they enjoyed their 814th straight sell-out.
