APPLETON, Wisc. - Thanks to six shutout innings from Greg Billo, three RBIs from Cheslor Cuthbert and a three-inning save from Chase Boruff, the Kane County Cougars maintained sole possession of first place in the Western Division on Friday night. They never trailed and beat the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers, 6-1, at Time Warner Cable Field to take two of three in the series.

Cuthbert notched a sacrifice fly in the fourth off Maverick Lasker (0-2) to give the Cougars a lead they never gave away. The Couars batted all the way around in the frame, and Kevin David and Geulin Beltre delivered RBI singles and Orlando Calixte scored on an error to make it 4-0. Then Cuthbert poked a two-run single in the fifth for a 6-0 game.

Meanwhile Billo (7-1) was cruising. He lowered his league-best ERA from 1.49 to 1.37 and got his third straight win since re-entering the starting rotation. He gave up three hits, walked one and fanned seven in the victory and has yielded just one earned run in his last 22 1/3 innings. Boruff posted his second save. He retired his first seven batters -- combining with Billo to retire 14 straight -- before the Rattlers managed a run in the bottom of the ninth. The Cougars have won four of their five series in the 2nd Half.
