Penguins Sign Sabourin

PITTSBURGH - The Pittsburgh Penguins have signed goaltender Dany Sabourin, it was announced today by General Manager Craig Patrick. In accordance with club policy, terms of the contract were not released.

Sabourin, 24, split the 2004-05 season between the Wheeling Nailers (ECHL) and the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins (AHL). In 27 games with Wheeling, he posted a 19-6-1 record with a 1.67 goals against average and five shutouts. Sabourin led the ECHL in goals against average and tied for second in shutouts (5). In 20 games with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, Sabourin posted a record of 8-8-2 with a 2.22 goals against average and one shutout.

The 6-2 and 182-pound native of Val d'Or, Quebec was drafted by the Calgary Flames in the fourth round (108th overall) of the 1998 Entry Draft and appeared in four games with the Flames in 2003-04.
