Mississippi Sea Wolves News Release
BILOXI, Miss. - Mississippi Sea Wolves Professional Hockey announced today that Jesse Martin has been named general manager.
Becoming the eighth general manager in team history, Martin has served as Mississippi's assistant general manager for the last three seasons, where he took an active role in the Sea Wolves sales team that sold more than 1,000 new season tickets since June, 2003. Selected as the 2004 ECHL Ticket Executive of the Year, Martin joined the team as ticket manager for the 2001-02 campaign.
A native of Madison, Kansas, Martin received a bachelor's degree in Business Marketing from Fort Hays State in Hays, Kansas, before completing an internship with Walt Disney World Resorts in Orlando.
Martin will be responsible for overseeing all day-to-day business operations effective immediately.
Jesse and his wife, Ashleigh, reside in Biloxi with their daughter, Mackenzie.
"I would like to thank the Sea Wolves ownership group for this opportunity," Martin said. "It's exciting to reach a goal that I set for myself four years ago. I enjoyed working with Bob Woods (former Mississippi general manager and coach) and appreciate the knowledge that he passed on to me. I am fortunate that I am inheriting a great front office staff. It's going to be business as usual. Season tickets are on sale for the 10th Anniversary season."
"Jesse has developed into one of the top front office employees in the ECHL," said Woods, who accepted an assistant coaching position with the Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League on July 27. "I have worked hand in hand with him over the last four years and he's ready to make the next step. I am confident he'll do a great job."
"Jesse has earned this promotion by working extremely hard," said Mike Rogers, Sea Wolves Operating Owner/Alternate Governor. "He was the right-hand man for Bob Woods on the administration and business side of the hockey team. It's a natural fit. Jesse bleeds Sea Wolves."
Mississippi drops the puck on its 10th Anniversary season on the road at Pensacola on Friday, October 22.
The Sea Wolves home opener will take place at 7:35 p.m. on Friday, October 28 against Texas at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum.
