Penguins Shutout by IceCaps

Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins News Release

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. - For the second straight game, the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins were unable to find the back of the net as they were blanked by the St. John's IceCaps, 2-0, on Saturday at Mohegan Sun Arena at Casey Plaza.

St. John's broke a scoreless tie with 20 seconds left in the first period when Aaron Gagnon blocked a shot at his own blueline and headed up-ice for a breakaway chance that he tucked through the pads of Scott Munroe.

Jason Gregoire notched the IceCaps insurance goal at 7:16 of the second as he sneaked behind the Penguins defense to accept a pass from John Albert. The St. John's forward skated to the near circle before finding the top corner of the net with a wrist shot to the glove side.

Eddie Pasquale kept the Penguins offense at bay and recorded his fourth shutout of the season with 27 saves in the game. Munroe stopped 19-of-21 shots and fell to 17-8-3 on the year.

The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins wrap up their homestand on Sunday, March 25 at 3:05 PM versus the Springfield Falcons. For tickets or more information, call the Penguins at (570) 208-PENS or visit www.wbspenguins.com.
