Smith and Admirals Blank Rivermen

The Peoria Rivermen were shutout, for the first time this season, in a 2-0 loss to the Milwaukee Admirals on Saturday night at Carver Arena in front of 8,901 fans. Jeremy Smith made 33 saves on his way to his fourth shutout of the season while Jake Allen made 19 saves in a losing effort.

Peoria had multiple chances to open the scoring in the first period but T.J. Hensick was stopped on a breakaway at 14:30. The Rivermen outshot the Admirals 9-5 in the first period.

Michael Latta broke through with the eventual game-winner at 12:50 of the second with the Admirals on a power play. Following a faceoff win, Kyle Wilson shot the puck into a pile of players in front of Allen where it was eventually pulled out and stuffed in by Latta for his 13th of the season.

Joel Champagne gave Milwaukee a 2-0 lead at 11:57 in the third period on a wrist shot from the top of the left circle.
