Penguins Recall Rowney from Wheeling

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. - The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins announced today that forward Carter Rowney has been recalled from the Wheeling Nailers of the ECHL.

Rowney has recorded six goals, seven assists and seven penalty minutes in 15 games for Wheeling. The 23-year old currently leads the Nailers in goals (6) and plus/minus rating (+9), while his 13 points (6g-7a) is second-best on the team.

Rowney was a four-year letterman at the University of North Dakota, where he compiled 32 goals, 41 assists and 65 penalty minutes in 150 games. An assistant captain last season, Rowney helped the Fighting Sioux to two Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA) championships in three years. The native of Sexsmith, Alberta made his professional debut in March, dressing in four games for the Abbotsford Heat (AHL).

The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins travel to Adirondack for a road game versus the Phantoms on Wednesday, Nov. 27 at 7:05 p.m.
