DiPietro Released from Tryout Contract

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Charlotte Checkers General Manager and Head Coach Jeff Daniels announced today that the team has released goaltender Rick DiPietro from his professional tryout agreement.

DiPietro, 32, was winless in four starts this season, posting a 0-4-0 record with a 5.18 goals against average and .846 save percentage. The former first overall draft pick of the New York Islanders and veteran of 318 career NHL games joined the Checkers on Oct. 26, following the recalls of Charlotte goaltenders Justin Peters and Mike Murphy to the Carolina Hurricanes.

The Checkers head to Norfolk Wednesday to take on the Admirals before returning to Charlotte on Saturday, Nov. 30, to host the Milwaukee Admirals for a back-to-back home series. Tickets are available at www.ticketmaster.com and the Time Warner Cable Arena box office.
