Penguins reassign Fata and McGrane to Wheeling

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins today reassigned defenseman Drew Fata and forward Ed McGrane to their ECHL affiliate, the Wheeling Nailers.

Fata, 21, has appeared in 25 games with the Penguins this season, recording two points (1+1) and 59 penalty minutes. He was recalled from Wheeling for the fifth time this season on Mar. 10. In 19 games with the Nailers, he has collected one assist and 48 penalty minutes.

The 6'1", 209-pound native of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario was selected by the Pittsburgh Penguins in the third round (86th overall) of the 2001 Entry Draft.

McGrane, 26, is scoreless in one game with the Penguins this season. He was recalled from Wheeling on March 13 and made his Wilkes-Barre/Scranton debut later that day versus Binghamton. McGrane leads the Nailers in scoring this season with 53 points (22+31) in 59 games. He also leads the team in goals, shots (225) and is tied for first in power play goals (9).

The 5'11", 185-pound native of Hamilton, Ontario was signed by the Penguins to an American Hockey League contract on September 25, 2004.

With the roster moves, the Penguins now have 24 players on their roster - two goaltenders, eight defensemen and 14 forwards.

The Penguins (32-19-6-6, 76 points; 4TH -Place, East Division) begin a four-game road trip on Friday when they visit the Syracuse Crunch (30-26-5-3, 68 points; 4TH -Place, North Division). Game time is set for 7:30 p.m. at the War Memorial at Oncenter.
