
Griffins recall Insana, release pair

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. â The Grand Rapids Griffins of the American Hockey League on Thursday recalled defenseman Jon Insana from the Muskegon Fury of the United Hockey League and released center Kory Karlander and right wing Brent Kelly.
Insana, assigned to the Fury yesterday, scored a goal in Muskegon's 4-2 win at Quad City last night. In 64 games with the Fury, Insana leads the team's defensemen with nine goals and 21 points. He has skated in two games with Grand Rapids this season, going scoreless.
Karlander, who shows three points (1-2â3) and 30 penalty minutes in 35 games with the Griffins, returns to the UHL's Kalamazoo Wings, while Kelly rejoins the ECHL's Johnstown Chiefs after posting three assists and two penalty minutes in 16 games with Grand Rapids.
