
Penguins Assign Goaltender Sebastien Caron to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins

WILKES-BARRE, PA - The Pittsburgh Penguins have assigned goaltender Sebastien Caron to their American Hockey League affiliate, the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, it was announced today by General Manager Craig Patrick.
Caron, 23, has appeared in 26 games for the Penguins this season, posting a 5-17-3 record with a 3.87 goals against average and a .881 save percentage with one shutout. In 50 career games in the National Hockey League, he has posted a 12-31-5 record with a 3.27 goals against average and three shutouts.
The 6'1", 170-pound native of Amqui, Quebec played in 27 games for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton last season, posting a 12-14-1 record with a 2.64 goals against average and one shutout. Caron has a 38-50-12 record and 3.24 goals against average in 103 career games played for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton.
Caron was drafted by Pittsburgh in the fourth round (86th overall) of the 1999 Entry Draft.
The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton today reassigned forward Greg Pankewicz to Colorado of the Central Hockey League.
Pankewicz, 33, was scoreless with two penalty minutes and plus/minus rating of minus-one in two games with the Penguins. He was recalled from the Eagles on January 14.
At the time of the call-up, the 6'0", 205-pound native of Drayton Valley, Alberta recorded 57 points (25+32) and 94 penalty minutes in 34 games this season with Colorado. He was tied for the team lead in scoring and ranked tied for third in the league in scoring.
The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins (18-16-4-4, 44 pts; Fourth-place, East Division, Eastern Conference) continue their six-game homestand on Friday when they host the Hershey Bears (21-15-8-3, 53 points; T-2nd -Place, East Division, Eastern Conference) at 7:05 p.m. at Wachovia Arena at Casey Plaza.
