Providence Bruins News Release

Providence, RI - The Providence Bruins, member of the American Hockey League, announced today that left wing Pascal Pelletier has been named a 2007-08 AHL First Team All-Star. He joins on the team Chicago Wolves center Jason Krog, rookie right wing Teddy Purcell of the Manchester Monarchs, Hartford Wolf Pack defenseman Andrew Hutchinson, Binghamton Senators blue-liner Lawrence Nycholat and Albany River Rats goaltender Michael Leighton.

Pelletier, 24, has enjoyed a season filled with several firsts, including his first career National Hockey League call-up when he joined the Boston Bruins for six scoreless games in January. Prior to his recall, the fourth-year pro and third-year P-Bruin was named a starter for the Canadian team in the 2008 AHL All-Star Classic presented by Reebok, an event he did not participate in due to his call-up. Pelletier also received the league's CCM/AHL Player of the Month Award for December 2007, during which he had 13 goals and 23 points.

The native of Labrador City, Newfoundland, has put together a career-year, leading Providence with 35 goals and 70 points in 67 games played. Pelletier's goals-total for the year, which ranks second in the AHL behind Krog's 36, has eclipsed that of his last two AHL seasons combined as the winger entered this campaign with 34 goals in 133 P-Bruins contests. Of Pelletier's 35 goals, 13 have come on the power play, which ranks tied for eighth in the league. His points-total is also tied for eighth and his plus-20 rating ranks 15th in the AHL.

Pelletier has put together two lengthy points-streaks this year, one of nine games and another of eight contests. The forward notched his 200th professional point with the first of two power play goals against Albany on December 27, 2007. He leads Providence in multiple-point games (21), multi-goal contests (6) and power play scoring (30 points). Pelletier is fifth all-time in scoring for the P-Bruins with 165 points (69g, 96a), seven points back of Tim Sweeney for fourth place. He originally joined Providence on December 16, 2005 from the ECHL's Gwinnett Gladiators.

Providence is back in action with three games this weekend, beginning Friday with Tuukka Rask Bobblehead Night as the P-Bruins host Hartford at 7:05 p.m. The bobbleheads are courtesy of WEEI 103.7 FM, NBC 10, Getty and 2nd Time Around Sports.
