Trio Of Wolves Highlight 2007-08 AHL All-Star Teams

Chicago Wolves center JASON KROG has been named to the 2007-08 American Hockey League First All-Star team. In addition, left BRETT STERLING defenseman JOEL KWIATKOWSKI have been selected to the AHL Second All-Star team, marking the second straight season and the fifth time in franchise history Chicago has had three or more players garner All-Star team honors in a single regular season.

KROG leads the AHL in goals (36), assists (65) and points (101) - all career highs - in 74 games this season. The 32-year-old forward is attempting to become just the third player in the 72-year history of the league to accomplish the offensive "triple crown," and first since 1984-85, with six contests remaining in the regular season.

The Fernie, British Columbia, native's 101 points are 18 more than the next-closet player in the AHL and include at least one in 57 of his 74 tilts this season. He also leads the league in power-play assists (39) and power-play points (52) and is just the fourth Wolves player in franchise history to crack the century mark in points in a season. KROG has recorded 181 points (62G, 119A) in just 118 regular-season matchups with the Wolves over the last two years, seventh on the franchise's all-time list.

STERLING, a member of the 2006-07 AHL First All-Star Team, ranks third in the league with 34 goals in 64 games this season. The 23-year-old forward, who ranks fourth on Chicago with 60 points, made his National Hockey League debut this season, notching three points and 14 penalty minutes in 13 outings with the Atlanta Thrashers. The Los Angeles native and 2007 AHL Rookie of the Year has racked up 89 goals in 141 career games with the Wolves, which ranks fourth in franchise history and includes a league-best 55 markers last season.

KWIATKOWSKI shares second among AHL defensemen with 17 goals and eighth with 42 points despite appearing in just 53 of Chicago's 74 games this season. The 31-year-old alternate captain has also dressed for 18 games with Atlanta, notching five assists and 20 penalty minutes. The Kindersley, Saskatchewan, native's 17 goals with Chicago are tied for a franchise record by a defenseman.

KROG (Canadian Team), KWIATKOWSKI (Canadian Team) and STERLING (PlanetUSA) all represented the Wolves in the 2008 AHL All-Star Classic in January in Binghamton, N.Y.
