
Pelicans Shutout by Nationals in the First Game of the Homestand

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. - The Potomac Nationals banged out eight runs on 13 hits, shutting out the Myrtle Beach Pelicans with an 8-0 win on Wednesday night from TicketReturn.com Field at Pelicans Ballpark.
Alex Lange (1-8) danced around trouble in each of the first two innings for the Pelicans (18-35) and was able to get out of the frames before he allowed a solo homer to Aldrem Corredor in the third that gave the Nationals a 1-0 lead.
Potomac (21-30) added to the lead in the sixth inning when David Masters drove in a run with a single to make it 2-0 and that ballooned to a 3-0 lead when Jakson Reetz drew a bases loaded walk.
The Nationals doubled their lead in the seventh when they added three more runs to extend the advantage to 6-0.
After back-to-back singles to lead off the inning, Corredor drove in two runs with a double to make it 5-0 and they added in the sixth run of the game on another double from Telmito Agustin.
Nick Banks extended the lead to 7-0 with a solo blast to left field and a sacrifice fly from Agustin made it 8-0 in favor of Potomac.
Carlos Sepulveda went 2-for-4 in the loss for the Birds.
RHP Erich Uelmen (0-0, 6.23) will make his first home start of the season on Thursday for the Pelicans, while RHP Andrew Lee (1-2, 3.29) will go for the Nationals in game two of the series on Thursday at 7:05 p.m.
