Pawtucket Red Sox News Release

The PawSox managed a split of their "doubleheader" in Columbus on Friday night, winning the first game, which had been suspended due to rain on Thursday, then losing a 7 inning affair in front of a packed Huntington Park.

The PawSox took the opener 5-2. When game one resumed, the PawSox were trailing 2-1 after 3 and a half innings. Josh Reddick had homered in the first. Pawtucket scored in the fifth on a triple by Matt Sheely and a grounder by Jose Iglesias. Two more scored in the sixth on an RBI double by Ronald Bermudez and a single by Luis Exposito. In the seventh, Brent Dlugach came around on a grounder by Sheely. Clevelan Santeliz left the game in the bottom of the sixth, with an apparent cramp. Jason Rice pitched the rest of the way for the PawSox. Santeliz (1-0) earned the win and Rice was credited with the save (1). Rice struck out 5 during his three and two thirds innings.

In the regularly scheduled game, the Clippers edged Pawtucket 3-0. Zach McAllister outdueled Miguel Gonzalez in the night cap. McAllister improved to 7-0 as he limited the PawSox to 3 hits over seven innings. Gonzalez was a tough luck loser. In his Triple A debut, the righty allowed a solo homer to Josh Rodriguez in the third. The Clippers scored two more on a Tony Thomas error in the sixth. Gonzalez struck out 5, while giving up 2 hits. The PawSox and Columbus split the 4 game series. The club heads to Toledo for a 4 game series that begins on Saturday night at 7:00 p.m. Matt Fox (4-2, 3.65) faces Thad Weber (1-4, 6.45).
