Paul Szczechura Recalled By Lightning

TAMPA BAY, Fla. - The Tampa Bay Lightning, NHL parent club of the Norfolk Admirals, have recalled center Paul Szczechura (sha-HUHR-uh) from the Admirals, Lightning Executive Vice President and General Manager Brian Lawton announced today.

Szczechura, 24, a 5-foot-10, 184-pound center from Brantford, Ontario, has appeared in 37 games with the Lightning this season and has scored two goals and three points.

Szczechura has appeared in 30 games with the Admirals this season. He has recorded seven goals and 26 points with Norfolk and is tied for the team lead among forwards with a plus-4 rating. Szczechura has played in 130 career AHL games between Norfolk and the Iowa Stars. He has amassed 39 goals and 93 points.

Szczechura made his NHL debut with the Lightning last season, playing in 31 games and recording four goals with nine points. He ranked second among Tampa Bay rookies in goals, assists and points. In 68 career NHL games with the Lightning he has six goals and 12 points. Originally undrafted, the Lightning signed Szczechura as a free agent on April 24, 2008.
