Hamilton, Ont. - The Hartford Wolf Pack battled back from an early 2-0 deficit against the Hamilton Bulldogs Saturday night at Copps Coliseum, but ended up falling to the Bulldogs in a shootout, 3-2.

The win was Hamilton's eighth straight, and the Wolf Pack fell to 0-2-2-1 in their last five games.

The Wolf Pack found themselves down 2-0 before the game was five minutes old, as Ryan White at Grant Stevenson scored early first-period goals for Hamilton.

White opened the scoring at the 36-second mark, as a Max Pacioretty centering pass went off of Aaron Palushaj and caromed off the goalpost, before White was able to jump on the loose puck and bury it into the net.

Grant Stevenson made it 2-0 at 4:43 with his sixth goal of the year, again on a scramble around the Wolf Pack net. Mike Glumac's shot hit the crossbar and dropped into the crease behind Hartford goaltender Matt Zaba, and Stevenson jammed it in.

The Wolf Pack came back with a strong second period, outshooting Hamilton 18-9, but were stymied by Bulldog goaltender Cedrick Desjardins until the final 1:19.

Hartford was able to score a pair of goals nineteen seconds apart in that last 1:19, though, to forge a tie game.

Jared Nightingale, joining the play from the defense, was able to find the top corner on Desjardins' stick side with a shot at 18:41, for Nightingale's third goal of the season. And Dale Weise netted his 20th of the year at the 19-minute mark to tie the game, on a play started by new acquisition Kris Newbury.

Newbury worked the puck out of the right-wing corner to Corey Potter at the point. Potter's shot went off of Desjardins and Weise, unguarded at the post to Desjardins' right, was easily able to knock it into the net.

The tie held up through the third period and overtime, and Desjardins was able to stop all four Wolf Pack shooters in the shootout, while P.K. Subban and Brock Trotter scored on Zaba, giving the Bulldogs the victory.

Zaba made 25 saves through regulation and overtime, and Desjardins stopped 30 of 32 Wolf Pack shots.

The Wolf Pack now stand at 26-27-5-4 for 61 points and remain in seventh place in the Atlantic Division.
