Albuquerque Isotopes News Release

Veteran catcher Paul LoDuca, who played for the Albuquerque Dukes over parts of three seasons, has signed a Minor League contract with the Florida Marlins and will return to Albuquerque tomorrow. LoDuca will be available to the media at 3:20 pm on the field at Isotopes Park, weather permitting.

The four-time Major League All-Star played 230 games for the Dukes from 1998 to 2000, batting a combined .335 (207x806) with 133 runs, 13 home runs, and 120 RBI. In 1998, LoDuca batted .319 (144x451) with 69 runs, 30 doubles, three triples eight homers, and 58 RBI for the Dukes.

In 11 Big League seasons, LoDuca is a career .286 hitter with 80 homers and 478 RBI. He began the year with the Washington Nationals, for whom he batted .233 with seven doubles and eight RBI in 44 injury-plagued games before being released on July 31.

LoDuca played for the Marlins in 2004 and 2005 before being traded to the New York Mets in December 2005 for starting pitcher Gaby Hernandez and outfielder Dante Brinkley, both of whom played for the Isotopes this season.

The Isotopes are back for a quick four-game homestand against Division-rival Oklahoma that features a slew of great promotions. Myron Noodleman will make an appearance at The Lab tonight and the team will be giving cowbells tomorrow courtesy of Creamland Dairies. Tickets can be purchased at Isotopes Park or any Ticketmaster outlet, www.ticketmaster.com, or Ticketmaster by phone 505-883-7800.
