Tucson Sidewinders News Release

Tucson, AZ - The Tucson Sidewinders will host the Tacoma Rainiers in a 4-game homestand beginning Friday, August 8th at Tucson Electric Park. The team will take on the Triple-A affiliates of the Seattle Mariners during a homestand that features right-handed pitcher Micah Owings starting game one after helping lead the squad to a Triple-A Championship in 2006.

The homestand will kick off with a Fireworks Friday Spectacular, followed by Kids Lunch Box Giveaway on Saturday, August 9th when the first 1,500 kids 12 and under with paid admission will receive a free Tucson Sidewinders school lunchbox.

The Sidewinders went 4-4 on their most recent road trip and are coming off a 3-1 series victory while visiting the Oklahoma RedHawks. Josh Whitesell has been swinging a hot bat of late, reaching base via hit in each of his last 14 games dating back to July 23rd. Whitesell also became the first 2008 Sidewinder to crack the 20 home run mark with a team leading 22 bombs so far this season.

Good seats remain for all games. The Tucson Electric Park box office can be reached at (520) 434-1021. Gates open one hour before game time unless otherwise noted.
