Paul and Martin Named to NWL Postseason All-Star Team

Rochester, Minn. - The Northwoods League announced its 2013 Postseason All-Star Team and award winners Sunday morning as the Rox Chris Paul and Adam Martin were part of the 31 players selected to the honorary team.

Paul has had an outstanding season this year for the Rox, appearing in 66 games and batting .300 (80-for-267) including nine doubles, two triples, and four home runs. He reached base 14 straight times and along with that his longest hitting streak this season was a 10 game streak of a total 18 hits for the Rox. Paul is currently tied for first on the team in game appearances, leads in at-bats (267), second in hits (80), home runs (4), and in RBIs (36). Paul's 267 at-bats also rank him tied for third in the Northwoods League. Paul was named to the Northwoods League Big Dreams Showcase as a member of the North Division roster.

Martin has had a great season with the Rox as well, appearing in 66 games and going batting .316 (83-for-263) that includes 17 doubles, one triple, and 10 home runs. Martin has posted 49 RBIs as well for the Rox. In the Northwoods League Martin is in the top-five for hits (83), total bases (132), and extra-base hits (28). Martin was named to the Northwoods League All-Star Game roster and to the Home Run Derby. He was the first ever Rox player to participate in and win the Home Run Derby as he put up 25 home runs.

In other Northwoods League awards, the Rox' Joe Faber Field was voted as the field with the Best Playing Surface.

The Northwoods League has more teams, plays more games, and draws more fans than any other Summer Collegiate League in North America. The 2013 season marks the 20th season of Northwoods League baseball. 108 former players have gone on to play Major League baseball. Notable alumni of the league include Curtis Granderson (Yankees), Chris Sale (White Sox), Max Scherzer (Tigers), Josh Willingham (Twins) and Jordan Zimmermann (Nationals). The 2013 Northwoods League Playoffs will begin on Monday, August 12.
