Madison, WI - August 11, 2013. The Northwoods League announced Postseason Awards Sunday morning and ESPN Madison's Gabe Neitzel, the Mallards play-by-play announcer, joins Mankato's J.J. Hartigan as the Co-Play-by-Play Announcers of the Year.
Both Neitzel and Hartigan were voted for by their peers. Neitzel is wrapping up his fifth season with the Mallards and has broadcasted both home and away games on FM 100.5.
"It's an honor winning the award," Neitzel said. "It's pretty cool knowing the other broadcasters in the league have recognized the hard work I've put in. I'm thankful for Steve, Conor and Vern for allowing me to do this for as long as I have."

The Madison Mallards are part of the 16-team Northwoods League. The Northwoods League has more teams, plays more games, and draws more fans than any other Summer Collegiate Baseball League in North America. In 2013, the Northwoods League is celebrating its 20th season.
