Eau Claire, Wis. -- The Bullfrogs ended the 2013 season with a loss to the Eau Claire Express, who scored eight straight runs to close out an 8-7 victory on Sunday.

Green Bay swung the bats well early, scoring all seven of its runs in the first three innings. The first three batters in the Bullfrogs order - Robert Youngdahl, Bryant Burleson and Jimmy Coady - reached base in each of the first two innings, all either scoring or driving in a run.

The Express began their comeback effort in the bottom of the third against Green Bay starter Garrett Harrison, who went 4.1 innings and allowed seven earned runs.

The Express scored two runs in the third and then exploded for five runs in the fifth inning, as things fell off the rails for the Bullfrogs. The biggest blow in the inning was a bases clearing, three-run double from Eau Claire's Blake Schmit. All five runs in the fifth were charged to Harrison, who was relieved by Matt Freeman one out into the inning.

The Express added another in the sixth inning to take an 8-7 lead for good.

Each bullpen closed it out with scoreless innings the rest of the way, as the Express hung on to win.

The win went to Eau Claire's Matt Panek (1-0). Freeman (1-4) took the loss. Matt Trowbridge picked up his fifth save of the season.

The Bullfrogs finished the second half at 12-23, and at 28-42 overall.

The Bullfrogs are a part of the 16-team Northwoods League. The Northwood's League has more fans and more teams than any other summer collegiate baseball league.
