March 16, 2019 - Western Hockey League (WHL)
Regina Pats News Release
Regina, Saskatchewan - The Regina Pats finished off the 2018-19 season with a 5-4 shootout loss in Brandon to the Wheat Kings on Saturday night.
In the first, the Wheat Kings scored 19 seconds in and then added another before the six-minute mark to lead 2-0. The Pats got one back from Carter Massier, his fifth of the year, and it was a 2-1 game after 20 minutes of play. In the second, Brandon went back up by two on a goal from Connor Gutenberg and led 3-1. The Pats got it to within a goal late in the period when Ty Kolle finished off a pretty pass from Ryker Evans for his 15th and it was 3-2 after forty minutes. In the third, Ty Kolle scored his second of the night and 16th of the campaign to tie it 3-3. The Wheat Kings got a shorthanded goal to take the lead back, but with 3:30 left in regulation, Austin Pratt put home his 25th to tie the game and force overtime. The extra frame solved nothing, and the Wheat Kings would end up taking the extra point in a five round shootout, 5-4 the final score.
The Pats were outshot 42-38, the powerplay was one for four and the penalty kill was four for four. Ty Kolle led the offence with two goals and an assist, while Max Paddock made 38 saves.
