Regina Pats News Release

Regina, Saskatchewan - The Regina Pats Hockey Club announced today the team has acquired over-age forward Aaron Macklin from the Prince George Cougars in exchange for a conditional seventh round pick in the 2016 WHL Bantam Draft.

Macklin (6'2", 200) has three WHL seasons under his belt having played 184 games split between the Kamloops Blazers and Prince George Cougars. The High River, AB native totaled 28 points (11G, 17A) in his time with the Blazers and Cougars. Macklin brings grit to the Blue and White after finishing fifth in the WHL last season with 128 penalty minutes.

The move gives the Pats four over-age skaters on the roster including Macklin, Colby Williams, Taylor Cooper and Daniel Wapple. Both Williams and Cooper start the season out of the lineup due to injury.

The Pats also announced the team released forward Erik Krienke who joins the AJHL's Okotoks Oilers. The roster sits at 28 players including 16 forwards, 9 defencemen and 3 goaltenders.

The Queen City kids open the 2015-16 Regular Season in Moose Jaw Thursday night before returning to the Brandt Centre for the Home Opener presented by A&W Restaurants on Saturday, September 26.

Named for the Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry, the Western Hockey League's Regina Pats are the oldest major junior hockey franchise in the world. Since their founding in 1917, the Pats have won three Memorial Cup championships and compete in the WHL's Eastern Division.
