
Patriots Rally Past Bluefish to Win Rubber Match

Bridgewater, NJ - The Somerset Patriots (9-6) rallied to defeat the Bridgeport Bluefish (8-7) 2-1 Sunday afternoon at TD Bank Ballpark. The Patriots won the rubber match as shortstop Robert Andino spanked a walk-off RBI single to propel the Patriots to victory on Mother's Day.
Bridgeport scored its lone run in the top of the ninth inning when right fielder James Skelton committed a fielding error allowing shortstop Ildemaro Vargas to score from first base making the contest 1-0.
Somerset plated a pair of runs in the home half of the ninth inning as third baseman Greg Hopkins laced a game tying RBI double then Andino recorded the game winning hit.
It was Somerset's third walk-off win through its first 15 games and fifth win in its final at bat this season.
Kyler Newby (3-0) earned the win in relief. Tim Gustafson (0-1) suffered the loss and blew the save.
