Rochester Americans News Release

(Rochester, NY)... Rochester Americans Vice President of Hockey Operations Ted Nolan announced today that the Florida Panthers have reassigned rookie goaltender Marc Cheverie to the Amerks from the ECHL's Cincinnati Cyclones.

Cheverie, a seventh-round selection (193rd overall) of the Florida Panthers in 2006, earns his promotion to the American Hockey League after posting some impressive numbers during his rookie season. He is currently tied for the ECHL lead with three shutouts this year and has had a trio of games where he has made 40 saves or more. In 30 appearances with the Cyclones this season, the 6-foot-2, 185-pound netminder has earned a 13-9-5 record with a 3.11 goals-against average and a .896 save percentage. His 13 wins are presently 11th best among league goaltenders.

During the month of November, Cheverie went 6-0-2 with a 2.59 goals-against average and a .949 save percentage, finishing runner-up for ECHL Goalie of the Month. Cheverie attended Amerks training camp this past fall before his reassignment to Cincinnati.

Prior to going pro, the 23-year-old Cole Harbour, Nova Scotia native was a two-year starter at the University of Denver, where he posted a career 2.22 goals-against average and finished with a 47-18-8 record. Last season, he was a Hobey Baker Top-10 Finalist and was named the INCH Goalie of the Year.

The Amerks remain at home on Wednesday, February 9th as the Abbotsford Heat make their second and final appearance this season at The Blue Cross Arena. The 7:05 p.m. North Division contest will be broadcast live on SportsRadio 1280 WHTK and FM 107.3, Rochester's Sports Talk.
