SUNRISE, FL - Florida Panthers C Nathan Horton will be made available to practice and play for Team Canada beginning on December 20, in preparation for the upcoming World Junior Hockey Championships in North Dakota and Minnesota, according to Panthers General Manager Mike Keenan. The 19-year-old, 2003 NHL first round draft pick is currently playing for the Panthers top minor league affiliate, the San Antonio Rampage of the American Hockey League. It is believed that Horton will be among those invited to play for Team Canada when invitations are made public on Monday.

"We're pleased to give Nathan the opportunity to participate in this worldwide prestigious tournament and represent his country," Keenan said. "Although he'd be missing a significant number of games with his AHL team, we felt it was important for us and him to show our support for Team Canada and the tournament."
