Hershey Bears News Release

Despite trailing 4-0 after two periods, the BEARS scored three goals in a wild third period but fell 4-3 at the Cumberland County Civic Center.

The Pirates scored first when Owen Fussey broke Tom Lawson's shutout streak at 151:57 at the 5:44 mark of the first period. Leading 1-0 after one, the Pirates would score three in the second period from three different goalscorers to take a 4-0 lead after two.

A three-goal third period put the BEARS just one short of a terrific comeback. David Masse scored his fifth goal of the season at 1:02, Dennis Bonvie notched his first of the season at 8:00 and Jeff Ulmer lit the lamp at the 18:07 mark of the third. HERSHEY could not solve Portland goaltender Maxime Ouellet in the game's final seconds despite outshooting the Pirates 18-7 in the third period.

The BEARS will finish four games in five days on Sunday afternoon in Providence against the Bruins. Face-off is at 4:05 p.m., with airtime on the BEARS radio network set for 3:45 p.m.
