Pair of Homers too Much for Senators in Series Opener

The Senators ninth-inning rally fell just short in a 2-1 loss to Altoona Tuesday night at FNB Field. Harrisburg had the tying run at second base when the game ended. Altoona hit two solo home runs accounting for all their runs.

On Capitol Hill

Carson Teel started and went six strong innings allowing two hits and one run on a solo home run. He struck out three and didn't walk a batter. Ryan Tapani went two innings and allowed just a solo home run. Jhonatan German pitched a scoreless ninth.

With the Gavel

Aldrem Corredor had the Senators first hit, a single in the first. Manuel Geraldo singled leading off the third inning but was left stranded. Humberto Arteaga singled to lead off the eighth and eventually made it around to third where he was stranded. Jakson Reetz doubled with one out in the ninth and Nick Banks doubled him home, driving in the lone Senators run.

Filibusters

Altoona sent just three batters over the minimum to the plate, hitting two home runs and stranding one runner. Harrisburg went 1-for-6 with runners in scoring position. The Sens turned their 11th double play this season.

The Senators play game two of a six-game series against Altoona Curve Wednesday afternoon at 12:00 p.m. The game can be heard on CBS Sports Radio Harrisburg 96.5FM 95.3FM and 1400AM beginning at 11:45 a.m.
