SOUTHAVEN, MS --- Juliano Pagliero's 40 save performance in goal led the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees past the Mississippi RiverKings in a 2-0 victory on Saturday, October 30th, at the DeSoto Civic Center in Southaven.
The win stopped a two-game winless streak (0-1-1) for Rio Grande Valley and also halted a two-game winning streak for the RiverKings, who fell to 2-4-0 for the season. Rio Grande Valley improved to 3-2-2 with the win.
There was no scoring in the first period, but the Killer Bees struck early in the second period with a deflection goal scored by Brett Wilson, his second of the season at 2:45. Rio Grande Valley added their second goal nearly four minutes later when Aaron Lee scored his third of the year at 6:21.
That ended the scoring for the night, as Pagliero shut the RiverKings down for his third win of the season.
Mississippi was 0-for-6 on the power play and Rio Grande Valley finished 0-for-5 with the man advantage.
Losing goaltender Kyle McNulty stopped 35 shots on net for the RiverKings, as Mississippi outshot the Killer Bees 40-37.
Mississippi will open the November portion of the schedule with the continuation of its four-game home stand, hosting Bossier-Shreveport on Friday, November 5th, starting at 7:05 PM in the DeSoto Civic Center. Saturday, Mississippi hosts the Tulsa Oilers in another 7:05 PM contest.
