The Dayton Gems, behind a solid goaltending performance by Jeff Jakaitis, defeated the Bloomington PrairieThunder 4-2 on Saturday night at the U.S. Cellular Coliseum. The PThunder (4-1) dropped their first game of the year while Dayton improved to 4-1. Goaltender Jakaitis stopped 46 shots and was named the game's number two star behind Dayton's Paul Ferraro who had two goals on the night. Ferraro's second goal of the night at 4:06 of the second period turned out to be the game winner.
The Bloomington goal scorers on the night were Jason Deleurme and Jason Dale.
The PrairieThunder now head on the road for three games, starting next weekend in Fort Wayne on Friday, November 5th and in Quad City on Saturday, November 6th. Bloomington doesn't return to home ice until Wednesday, November 17th when they entertain the Arizona Sundogs at 7:05pm.
