Laredo Bucks News Release
ODESSA, TX- The Laredo Bucks of the Central Hockey League fell to the Odessa Jackalopes 4-2 Saturday night at the Ector County Coliseum. The Bucks fall to 2-2-1 (five points) while the Jackalopes snap their three game losing streak and improve to 2-4 (four points).
Dominic Leveille had three points (1-2=3) including the game-winning goal in his first game of the season after returning from an injury while Joel Martin picked up his first win in net this season stopping 30 shots.
The Jackalopes opened the scoring at the 9:37 mark of the first when Todd Robinson picked up his first goal with Odessa when he slammed in a wrist shot from the slot. It was the second time in the first six games that Odessa scored first.
Odessa outshot the Bucks 14-8 in the first period.
The Jackalopes would increase their lead to 2-0 just 2:37 into the second period when Sebastien Thinel slipped behind the Bucks defense and scored on a breakaway. The goal was Thinel's fifth of the campaign.
Laredo would battle back and score two straight goals in nearly four minutes to tie the game at 2-2.
Chris Korchinski cut the Odessa lead to 2-1 with 6:49 left in the period when he scored from the left circle on a two-on-one break. The offcials did not immediately signal a goal and after checking with the goal judge after play had stopped they declared it a score. The strike was Korchinski's second of the season and his first since Laredo's opening game on October 15th.
Laredo would tie the game at 2-2 less than four minutes later when Daniel Koger took a feed from Neil Trimm and lifted a shot in from the left circle to pick up his seventh goal of the season. Koger increased his goal streak to four games while Trimm and Serge Dube increased their point streaks to five games apiece after picking up assists on Koger's tally.
The Jackalopes would re-take the lead just 56 seconds later when Leveille scored from the middle of the right circle.
The Bucks were outshot 12-11 in the second period.
Odessa increased their lead to 4-2 just 1:33 into the third period when Mike Ramsay scored from right in front of the net to pick up his second goal of the year.
Laredo outshot Odessa 11-10 in the third period but were outshot 35-32 in the game.
Pier Pelletier stopped 31 of 35 shots to tall to 1-2-1 on the season.
Laredo starts a season-high five game home stand Tuesday (Nov. 2nd) against the Jackalopes.
