Quad City Mallards News Release

EVANSVILLE, Ind. - Eric Giosa scored at 1:17 of overtime to give the Quad City Mallards a 3-2 win over the host Evansville IceMen Saturday night.

Giosa provided the game winner when his shot from the right wing circle broke in off Evansville goaltender Matt Lundin.

It took a spectacular solo rush from the Mallards' Tyler Townsend late in regulation to even force sudden death. Townsend weaved his way into the Evansville zone to blast home the equalizer with 2:11 left in the third period.

Power play goals from John DiPace twice gave the IceMen the lead in regulation. DiPace tipped in his second of the game to give the IceMen a 2-1 lead at 18:29 of the second period- just over four minutes after Zac Pearson's drive from the slot had tied the game at one for the Mallards. DiPace had opened the scoring from the doorstep at 11:32 of the first period.

The Mallards will team with Genesis Health System and Cumulus Media to support breast cancer awareness with "Pink in the Rink Night" when the Mallards take on the Bloomington PrairieThunder next Saturday at 7:05 p.m. at the i wireless Center. $2 from every ticket sold for Pink in the Rink Night will be donated to the Geneses Health Services Foundation. The Mallards will wear special pink jerseys during next Saturday's game; the jerseys will be auctioned off after the game to benefit the Genesis Health Services Foundation. In addition, the first 1,000 adult female fans through the door will receive free pink caps.
