P-Bruins sign Mike Scott to a tryout contract

The Providence Bruins announced today that they have signed right wing Mike Scott to a professional tryout contract. He will accompany the team on its three-game road trip to Hershey and Norfolk.

Scott, a 26-year-old native of Calgary, Alberta, is playing in his second professional season out of the University of Alaska-Anchorage, and could make his AHL debut this week. He had been playing with the Alaska Aces (ECHL), leading the team with 19 goals and ranking second with 41 points in 41 games. He also ranked second on the club with 150 PIM. The Aces are coached by former P-Bruins forward Davis Payne, and player/assistant coach Keith McCambridge, another former P-Bruin.

Scott tallied 38-55-93 totals and 186 PIM in 141 games at the University of Alaska from 1998-2002. He began last season with the Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies (ECHL), playing in two games, before being traded to the Mississippi Sea Wolves. Scott posted 26-41-67 totals and 100 PIM in 66 games overall, finishing fourth on the Sea Wolves scoring list.

The Bruins begin a three-game road trip on Wednesday, January 28, when they take on the Hershey Bears at 7:30 p.m. They visit the Norfolk Admirals on Friday, January 30 at 7:30 p.m., before returning to Hershey for a 7:00 p.m. game the next night. All three games will be broadcast live on WDDZ AM-550.

The Bruins return home to host the Hartford Wolf Pack on Friday, February 6 at 7:05 p.m.
