
P-Bruins Fall to Monarchs 4-1

Manchester, NH - The Providence Bruins fell to the Manchester Monarchs 4-1 Saturday night. Seth Griffith scored the lone P-Bruins goal, while Malcolm Subban stopped 30 shots.
In the first period, Manchester came out of the gates quickly putting a lot of pressure on the Providence net. Subban held off the attack until Andy Andreoff scored a power play goal at the 9:14 mark off a great cross-ice pass from Tanner Pearson. For Andreoff it was his second goal of the season, while Brandon Kozun grabbed the second assist. Despite the Monarchs finishing the period with 18 shots, Providence held them to one goal as Manchester led 1-0 going into the first intermission.
In the second period, Manchester capitalized at the 2:32 mark. Sean Backman picked up a loose puck in the slot and put it into the back of the net for his second goal of the season. Brian O'Neill and Derek Forbort recorded the assists. The P-Bruins started picking up the offense, while on the power play with under two minutes to go in the period. At the 18:43 mark, Griffith converted in the slot off the feed from Jared Knight for his fourth goal of the season. David Warsofsky had the second assist. Manchester led 2-1 going into the second intermission.
Throughout the majority of the third period the game remained close until the last few minutes. The Monarchs extended their lead at the 17:33 mark, when O'Neill was awarded a penalty shot. O'Neill converted the penalty shot for his second goal of the season. The Monarchs finished off the scoring with an empty net goal at the 19:06 mark to make it 4-1. Nick Deslauriers tallied his fourth goal of the season, with Kozun getting the lone assist.
Subban stopped 30 of the 33 shots he faced for the P-Bruins, while Martin Jones made 30 saves for the Monarchs. Providence went 1-for-4 on the power play and 1-for-2 on the penalty kill.
