Wolves Defeat Barons, 6-0

The Oklahoma City Barons dropped a 6-0 decision to the Chicago Wolves Friday night at the Cox Convention Center. With the loss, the Barons fell to 4-6-0-1, while the Wolves improved to 4-5-0-1. The same two teams square off Saturday night at 7 p.m. CT.

In the first period, the Barons and Wolves traded two power play opportunities with neither team notching a score. Despite two quality chances for the Barons by Mario Lamoureux and Taylor Fedun, Chicago goalie Jake Allen demonstrated it would be a tough task pushing the puck past him.

Barons goalie Olivier Roy started the game fending off several Wolves chances, including a late period barrage of shots from point-blank range. At the end of the first period, the two teams were scoreless.

The second period proved to be unkind for the Barons, as Chicago opened the period by breaking the scoreless tie less 51 seconds in on a deflection in front by winger Shane Harper off a Keith Aucoin shot from the point. The 1-0 score held up for just over 10 minutes before Chicago added to their lead when Rattie took a long pass from defenseman Evan Oberg and beat Roy glove side with a quick wrist shot at 11:09.

The Wolves weren't done, scoring three more times in the second. Harper scored his second goal off a rebounded Taylor Chorney shot at 12:22, and Alexander Bolduc added two goals of his own at 12:55 and 16:30 to put the Wolves up 5-0.

The Wolves picked up in the third period right where they left off. Just less than three minutes in, Rattie tallied his second goal of the game at 2:47, pushing back a rebound off a Harper shot to put the Wolves up 6-0.

Despite some quick transitional chances, Chicago's smothering defense and Allen's solid play in net was too much for the Barons, who suffered their second shutout loss of the season.
