Penguins Rally to Sweep Weekend Series against Bears

HERSHEY, Pa. - The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins rattled off four straight goals to come from behind for the second night in a row, earning a 4-2 win over the Hershey Bears at GIANT Center and a sweep of the home-and-home weekend series between the two division rivals.
Down by a score of 2-0 coming into the second, Wilkes-Barre/Scranton came storming back with three unanswered markers, while outshooting Hershey 22-9 in the period. The Penguins got on the board at 4:54 of the frame when Brian Gibbons freed up the puck along the far post of the Bears net and Chris Conner swooped in to backhand in his fourth goal of the season.
Wilkes-Barre/Scranton tied the score at two at the midway point of the second, catching Hershey in a line change. Nick Drazenovic led a 2-on-0 rush into the Bears zone and sent a pass across the crease that Harry Zolnierczyk tapped by Hershey goalie David Leggio.
With 47.1 seconds left before the intermission, Tom Kuhnhackl set up in front of the net as Philip Samuelsson wound up for a slapshot from the right side blueline and redirected the puck home to give the Penguins their first lead of the game, 3-2.
The score would remain the same until the final minutes of regulation with Hershey on the power play. Skating into the slot, Andrew Ebbett knocked down an outlet attempt by Leggio and whipped the shorthanded goal into the open cage with 1:56 remaining in regulation.
Some quick scoring by the Bears in the first period helped them build a 2-0 margin heading into the intermission. Defenseman David Kolomatis started things up at 6:38 with a long wrister from the near boards that deflected off a body in front of the crease and into the Penguins' net.
Two minutes later, Jeff Taffe put Hershey up by two as he skated up to a loose puck at the bottom of the left circle and fired a low shot that snuck under the leg pad of goaltender Jeff Deslauriers.
Deslauriers pushed his record to 7-0-1 on the season with a 22-save performance. Leggio turned aside 38-of-42 for the Bears. Wilkes-Barre/Scranton remains undefeated in regulation on the road at 5-0-0-1.
