Binghamton Senators News Release

BINGHAMTON, N.Y. - The Binghamton Senators rebounded in a big way tonight following last nights loss in Adirondack for a 4-2 victory over the Syracuse Crunch at the Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena. Jean-Gabriel assisted on all four Senators goals and Nathan Lawson turned in a 37 save performance to earn his fifth victory on the season.

Mike Hoffman started the scoring for the Sens 7:31 into the opening period beating Syracuse starting goaltender, Cedrick Desjardins, off a pass from Cody Ceci. Evan Rankin leveled the scoreboard at one apiece, the lone power-play marker of the evening between either team. Desjardins, stopped 10 of 11 shots faced in the period while Lawson turned aside 14 of the 15 fired his way.

The second period was dominated by the B-Sens as they forced 18 shots on goal. Shane Prince put the home team back on top 14:23 into period putting home a rebound off of a Pageau shot in close on Desjardins. With 10 seconds remaining in the frame Matt Puempel put the Sens up by two off a feed from Pageau and Buddy Robinson.

The third period featured the teams trading goals. Binghamton added to their lead 5:48 into the third as Cole Schneider scored his fourth goal of the season off another look from Pageau, putting the hosts up 4-1 with a little under 15 minutes to play. Syracuse was able to inch closer as Nikita Kucherov scored his American Hockey League leading eleventh goal of the season, but it was too little too late. Lawson turned aside a barrage of Crunch opportunities to close out the game and send Syracuse back up interstate 81 with a loss.

Desjardins closed the night stopping 33 of 37 shots, but it was not enough as the B-Sens ended the Crunch's five game win streak. Hoffman finished with a goal and an assist for the home team while Ceci added two helpers, bringing his season total to seven through 10 games played.

The Senators return to action next weekend for three games in consecutive nights. First they travel to Rochester Friday where they will face the Americans for the first of eight games between the teams this season in a 7:05 p.m. matchup. The following night the Sens return home to host the Americans in the back end of the home and home series before ending their weekend on the road facing East Division rival the Hershey Bears Sunday at 5:00 p.m.
