P-Bruins Fall to Falcons 2-1

Springfield, MA - The Providence Bruins fell to the Springfield Falcons 2-1 Saturday evening at the MassMutual Center. The P-Bruins got their lone goal from Nate Thompson. The 38-12-2-1 Atlantic Division leading P-Bruins are back in action Sunday at the Dunkin' Donuts Center for a Family Game versus the Lowell Devils at 4:05 p.m. Providence is now four points ahead of the second place Hartford Wolf Pack.

The Falcons took the 1-0 lead on a shorthanded goal at the 12:52 mark of the opening period. Stephen Werner scored his fifth goal of the season, with Jonas Almtorp getting the lone assist. Providence tied the game at one at the 15:46 mark. Chris Collins worked the puck off the boards to Pascal Pelletier in the neutral zone. He passed the puck to Thompson, who was cutting into the Falcons end down the right wing. From the right face off circle, Thompson shot the puck under the crossbar and into the net for his tenth goal of the season. The Falcons took a 2-1 lead into the first intermission after scoring at the 18:57 mark. Rob Schremp tallied his 13th goal of the season, while Patrick Thoresen and Marc Pouliot recorded the assists.

After a scoreless second and third period, the Falcons held on for the 2-1 victory.

Jordan Sigalet stopped 20 of 22 shots for the P-Bruins, while Devan Dubnyk made 28 saves for the Falcons. The P-Bruins were 0-for-7 on the power play and 0-for-4 on the penalty kill.

The Atlantic Division-leading P-Bruins return to the Dunkin' Donuts Center Sunday against the Lowell Devils for a Family Game at 4:05 p.m. Purchase one ticket, hot dog and soda package starting as low as $16.
