Hogs winless in seven straight

Rockford, Ill.- The Rockford IceHogs fell to the Chicago Wolves 4-1 tonight at the Rockford MetroCentre in front of a sold out crowd of 6,616. Rockford stretched its winless streak to a season low seven straight (0-5-1-1) while the Wolves ran its winning streak to seven.

In the first, Joel Kwiatkowski punched through his 17th goal of the season on a power play at 18:02. Jason Krog and Grant Lewis had the assists.

Brett Sterling put in his league-leading 28th goal of the campaign on a 2-on-2 at 4:12 in the second period. Bryan Little contributed with a near-perfect set-up from the top of the near circle.

Little took his turn with a marker at 12:47 in the second to make the score 3-0. Darren Haydar was credited with the assist.

But the Hogs have responded. Bryan Bickell stuck through a goal at 5:15 in the second, with assists from Kris Versteeg and Colin Fraser.

But the Wolves' Brian Fahey slapped the puck past Corey Crawford on a power play at 8:33 in the third to make the score 4-1. Nathan Oystrick and Alexandre Giroux had the assists.

Neither team performed well on the advantage. The Hogs were 1-for-8, while the Wolves finished 2-for-7. Corey Crawford took the loss. He had 24 saves, while Ondrej Pavelec had 33 saves.

Next Game: Sunday, Feb. 17 at Milwaukee Admirals. Game starts at 4 p.m. The IceHogs drop the puck against the Admirals in the first of four consecutive meetings. It is the fourth of ten games between the two teams this season. Catch the game on 1330 WNTA or on the Web.
