Amerks Visit Crunch Tonight

(Rochester, February 16)... The Rochester Americans continue their three-game weekend tonight with a North Division matchup against the Syracuse Crunch at the War Memorial at Oncenter. The 7:30 p.m. contest between the I-90 Interstate rivals will be broadcast live on Hot Talk 1280 WHTK, whtk.com and B2 networks. The game will also be televised live on Time Warner SportsNet Channel 26.

Tonight's contest marks the seventh of 12 scheduled meetings between the two teams this season. Syracuse leads the season series with a 4-2-0 record, although Rochester holds a 78-61-15 all-time record against the Columbus Blue Jackets' affiliate. The Amerks are 0-2-0 against the Crunch on the road this season.

Rochester comes into the game after defeating its longtime rival, the Hershey Bears, 4-2 last night at The Blue Cross Arena to improve to 16-32-3-4. The win was Rochester's third straight and fourth in its last five games.

Rochester got two-point efforts from Yannick Tifu (1+1), Drew Larman (0+2) and Anthony Stewart (1+1). Dan Collins and Marek Zagrapan also scored goals for the Amerks. Marc-Andre Gragnani increased his point streak to five games (2+4) with an assist last night. Tifu found the back of the net for his first goal in an Amerk uniform and Collins scored in his first game back in the lineup after being recently reassigned to Rochester from the Florida Everblades of the ECHL. Mark Mancari remains the top point-getter for the Amerks with 41 points (15+26). Mancari and Gragnani each share the team lead with 26 assists. Gragnani's 32 points (6+26) currently ranks him ninth among all league rookies. Adam Dennis is eighth among goaltenders with three shutouts this season.

Syracuse enters the contest after handing the Binghamton Senators a 4-1 loss last night on home ice. The Crunch is now 3-1-0 in their last four games. Centerman Derek MacKenzie leads Syracuse's current roster with 39 points (21+18). His 21 goals are also a team best. Adam Munro is among the elite goaltenders of the AHL this season. His 2.40 goals-against average and .914 save percentage presently rank him 12th and 19th in the league, respectively.

Rochester returns home on Sunday, February 17th as its play host to the defending Calder Cup Champion Hamilton Bulldogs. The 6:05 p.m. contest can be heard live on Hot Talk 1280 WHTK, whtk.com and B2 networks. The contest will kickoff the Amerks' second four-game homestand this month.

The game falls on the next installment of the Amerks' Supercuts $6.00 Sundays. All kids 12 and younger can receive a ticket for just $6.00. It's also Family Night.
