
P-Bruins fall in shootout

The Providence Bruins went to a shootout for the first time in franchise history on Saturday night in Lowell, Massachusetts, falling to the Lock Monsters in a 5-4 final score. The Bruins rallied from 3-0 and 4-2 deficits to tie the game 4-4 late in third period, before a scoreless overtime forced the shootout. Lowell won the game in the second shootout round on a goal by Ryan Bayda.
Bruin forwards Andy Hilbert and Patrice Bergeron scored second period goals for the Bruins, while former UMass-Lowell winger Yorick Treille scored twice in the third period to tie the game. Center Brad Boyes had two assists.
Goaltender Peter Hamerlik stopped 35 shots on the night.
The Bruins return home to host the Springfield Falcons on Sunday afternoon at 4:05 p.m. The first 5,000 fans in attendance will receive a free Providence Bruins magnet schedule, courtesy of Shaw's Supermarkets.
