MANCHESTER, NH – The first professional hat trick for center Yanick Lehoux highlighted another high-octane night of offense for the Manchester Monarchs, who outscored the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, 7-3, at the Verizon Wireless Arena on Saturday night. A crowd of 7,641 roared with pleasure throughout as the Monarchs improved to 2-0-0-0 on the season while beating the Penguins for the first time in franchise history. The Baby Pens, who dropped to 0-2-0-0, posted a pair of one-goal wins against the Monarchs last year.

Lehoux opened his special night with a pair of first period goals. The third-year pro from Repentigny, Quebec, batted his first by goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury at 6:08. The former third-round pick of the Los Angeles Kings (2000 NHL Entry Draft) struck again at 15:21 to give the Monarchs a 2-0 lead. Lehoux made it 5-1 Manchester by completing the hat trick at 4:21 of the final period.

Lehoux, who finished with five goals and six points (5-1=6) in two weekend games, also had plenty of help from the supporting cast, with left wing Noah Clarke (0-3=3), center Michael Cammalleri (1-2=3), right wing Tom Kostopoulos (0-2=2), defenseman Denis Grebeshkov (1-1=2) and defenseman Mike Weaver (0-2=2) all registering multi-point games.

Center Shane Endicott and the Penguins cut the deficit to 2-1 with his power play goal 3:01 into the middle period, but left wing Jeff Giuliano and right wing Brad Smyth added to the Monarchs lead with goals later in the period. Smyth scored his goal on the power play.

Cammalleri and Grebeshkov joined Lehoux with third period goals, and all three were scored against goaltender Andy Chiodo (10 shots, 7 saves). He entered the game after W-B/Scranton head coach Michel Therrien pulled Fleury to start the third period. Right wing Michel Ouellet and center Matt Hussey also collected third period goals for the Penguins.

Goaltender Adam Hauser finished with 29 saves and his first win of the season. Fleury took the loss and finished with 14 saves.

The Monarchs hit the road for the first time this season when they travel to the "E" Center in West Valley City, Utah to meet the Utah Grizzlies on Wednesday, October 19.
