Pirates Are Pumped Up For Hockey Night In Portland

PORTLAND, ME – The Portland Pirates will kick off their twelfth season as a member of the American Hockey League tonight at the Cumberland County Civic Center when they host the St. John's Maple Leafs at 7:05pm.

Before the game, the first 5,000 fans will receive official magnetic Pirates schedules courtesy of Paul G. White Tile Co. Inc.

Before and during the game, A.C Moore will have their craft tables available for fans to make Pirates signs and posters to cheer on their team.

Hockey Night in Portland will begin with pre-game specials at local restaurants including: David's Restaurant (a special Portland Pirates pre-game menu), Rivalries, Maverick's (free kids' meals 2 hrs. before games Sat. & Sun. & free parking @ Public Market lot), Margarita's, Boru's, and Gritty's.

The night will also feature a United Way t-shirt fundraiser. A special United Way campaign t-shirt has been designed with the Pirates logo compliments of Atlantic Sportswear and Olympia Sports. The proceeds from the t-shirts will go to the 2004 United Way Community Care Fund, which is chaired by Pirates' Managing Owner/CEO Brian Petrovek.

After the game, the Pirates will host the largest indoor fireworks display in the northeast provided by Atlas PyroVision Productions, sponsored by the Cumberland County Civic Center.

Fans can also join the Pirates players after the game at The Stadium Restaurant and Sports Bar for the first of 17 Saturday night post-game parties.

The 2004-05 Pirates home game promotional schedule is built around these Saturday nights, which will be promoted as "Hockey Night in Portland." On these 17 Saturdays throughout the season the Pirates will feature in arena promotions, live entertainment, contests and giveaways similar to opening night.

In addition to the season-long Pirates promotional schedule, fans can expect at every game: players signing autographs during intermission, the new Wendy's Power Play, which gives one row of fans a chance to win Wendy's coupons if the Pirates score on their first power play of the game. The Pirates will continue other popular activities including, VIP Parts, Tires & Service Tire-Toss, jersey raffle and t-shirt toss, Hannaford Trivia for a $50 gift certificate, your chance to win a 2004 Dodge Magnum with SCORE-O, the new Kid's SCORE-O, where kids can win sticks, shirts and gift certificates sponsored by Olympia Sports. The Pirates will also be continuing the Allied Home Mortgage Three Stars of the Game, Classy Chassis Dirtiest Car in the Lot, Amato's Lucky Row of the Game, Pepsi 12 pack giveaway for one lucky fan, Gritty McDuff's Brew Pub and Dunkin Donuts lucky ads, lots of other prizes, and of course Crackers and the jolly new Salty Pete will be up to their usual antics at every Pirates home game.
