P-Bruins Defeat Wolf Pack 7-1

Providence, RI - The Providence Bruins defeated the Hartford Wolf Pack 7-1 Friday evening at the Dunkin' Donuts Center. The P-Bruins got their goals from Jeff Penner, Andrew Bodnarchuk, Jordan Knackstedt, Levi Nelson, John Lammers and two goals from Mikko Lehtonen. The P-Bruins return home to the Dunkin' Donuts Center Sunday at 4:05 p.m. for Kid's Hat Night against the Syracuse Crunch.
The P-Bruins took a 1-0 advantage at the 6:40 mark of the opening period. Zach Hamill tied up the puck along the boards and freed it up for Craig Weller. He passed it to Penner at the right point, who tallied his fifth goal of the season. Providence grabbed a 2-0 lead at the 15:10 mark. Andy Wozniewski worked the puck out of the P-Bruins zone and into the neutral zone for Guillaume Lefebvre. He left the puck up ahead for Lehtonen, who scored his 18th goal of the season. The P-Bruins led 2-0 going into the first intermission.
Hartford cut the lead in half at the 2:22 mark of the second period, while on the power play. Evgeny Grachev netted his 12th goal of the season, with Brodie Dupont and Nigel Williams recording the assists. Providence retook a two goal advantage at the 3:25 mark. Knackstedt held the puck along the boards and left it for Brad Marchand, who passed it back to Bodnarchuk at the right point. He shot it into the net for his second goal of the season. The P-Bruins made it 4-1 at the 6:24 mark, while on the power play. Marchand held the puck halfway up the boards and passed it to Trent Whitfield in the corner. He found Lehtonen backdoor, who tallied his 19th goal of the season and second goal of the game. The P-Bruins led 4-1 going into the second intermission.
The P-Bruins went ahead 5-1 at the 14:00 mark of the third period. Whitfield stole the puck behind the Hartford net and found Knackstedt in the slot, who netted his fifth goal of the season. Seventeen seconds later Providence tallied again. Matt Marquardt grabbed the puck behind the net and worked it into the slot for Knackstedt. He passed the puck off to Nelson, who scored his fifth goal of the season. The P-Bruins finished off the scoring at the 19:06 mark, while on the power play. Knackstedt sent the puck to Hamill, who put a shot on net. Lammers scored on the rebound for his second goal of the season. Providence went on to the 7-1 victory.
Dany Sabourin stopped 25 of 26 shots for the P-Bruins, while Chad Johnson made 28 saves for the Wolf Pack. The P-Bruins were 2-for-5 on the power play and 4-for-5 on the penalty kill.
Saturday Providence travels to the MassMutual Center to take on the Springfield Falcons at 7:00 p.m. The P-Bruins wrap up the weekend at The Dunk Sunday at 4:05 p.m. for Kid's Hat Night against the Crunch.
